Foxgloves
offers short respite care to Children and young people aged 8
18yrs who have learning difficulties which include Autism, and or
challenging behaviour.
The provision of this vital service is essential in providing support
to families which enables them to continue to care for their child/children
at home on a day to day basis.
The
aim is to assist and support children and young people so they can
develop independence skills and build self esteem in a safe, relaxed
stimulating environment much like a home from home.
Most
children and young people are able to access this while also enjoying
socializing along side their peers and just having fun, however
sometimes it may be more appropriate to offer this service in a
quieter environment on a 1-1 basis.
Foxgloves will always aim to meet the individual needs of each young
person.
Foxgloves
are fortunate in having an outdoor swimming pool which in the past
has been able to provide the children/young people with hours of
endless fun and enjoyment. It also had a therapeutic value for those
young people who have more complex health needs or challenging behaviour.
Unfortunately we have been unable to access the pool for many years
due to essential maintenance needing to be carried out and general
updating to ensure the pool meets Health and Safety Standards.
Foxgloves needs to raise a considerable amount of cash so that the
work can be carried out so that once again this great leisure activity
can be offered to children and
Young people of Foxgloves.
Thank
you for supporting this event tonight you are helping children and
young people with learning difficulties and challenging behaviour
in Bedfordshire in their long term development of emotional, physical,
and social skills.
